India's newest music video channel uses innovative content scheduling concepts
Mumbai -- 5 November 2007– 9XM is the name of the music channel that INX Media launches as first of a bouquet of programs intended to go to air in the course of the coming months. In doing so, INX becomes the first operator in Asia to adopt innovative scheduling technology developed by RCS. Goal-driven and demand based scheduling are the key characteristics of GSelector. RCS hails GSelector as the scheduling tool for the 21st century, as it encompasses technology that meets demands of a changing media industry.
INX Media is a prime example for a media outlet that does not adhere to established norms. Leveraging its content into multiple platforms was not an afterthought, but was fundamental part of the strategy for all INX programs, from the outset. As a music channel, 9XM fits these intentions and this profile particularly well.
With a program targeted at a very young audience, 9XM Head of Music Vikas Varma was looking for a scheduling system that would allow him to create a music mix with lots of interactive content and constant activity on the screen. Having multiple layers of content active at any given moment in the program, 9XM becomes attractive also to platforms other than straight TV broadcast.
"GSelector is the right tool for what we want to accomplish with 9XM as a music channel. It is one of the most advanced music scheduling systems out there, and it allows us the flexibility to implement our new ideas," says Vikas Varma, when asked about the challenge of matching 9XM requirements with tools available in the industry.
And Shankar Balakrishnan, as Manager of Support Services at RCS India responsible for integrating GSelector into the INX operations, adds: "9XM posed some very new requirements for a music scheduling system. This made this project very interesting for us. But it was also fun to explore with the 9XM team how we could address these with the unique capabilities of GSelector."
Along with 9XM, INX Media now is also poised to launch its general entertainment channel 9X and the news channel 9X News.
